2009 is a Prosperous Year for The Promotion Company-Family Events

10/08/2009

Increased attendance numbers, solid results for sponsors, and a major business acquisition mark a year of growth and success for Indianapolis-based producers.

(INDIANAPOLIS)   The Promotion Company-- Family Events based in Indianapolis, IN navigated the turbulent waters of recession-plagued 2009 successfully with positive results in attendance, participation, and sponsor satisfaction in its spring-through-fall Performance Series of events.  Family Events also positioned itself for even greater results in 2010 with outdoor Performance Series expansion plans and the key acquisition of 15 new indoor arena events.

Family Events produced 14 major power sports events from May through September.  Trucks were featured at six 4-Wheel Jamborees and the Truck and Jeep Fest.  Performance cars were the stars of four major shows and the legendary seven-city Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour.  Motorcycles took the spotlight at Muskegon Bike Time in Muskegon, MI and the Lucas Oil Indy Mile AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National motorcycle race in Indianapolis.  In spite of what many believed to be a "down" year due to the economy; the majority of these events delivered results outpacing previous years in both participants and spectators.

These strong attendance numbers provided plenty of activated customers ready to buy the products and services of sponsors and exhibitors who toured with the Family Events.  Ken Warner, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Mickey Thompson Tires said: "Mickey Thompson Tires and Wheels partnered with Family Events almost 10 years ago as an official sponsor of the 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals. We wanted to get closer to our core customers, understand their needs, and listen to what they wanted in tires and wheels. Needless to say, it worked!  And it continued to work in 2009. The 4-Wheel Jamboree events deliver exactly what is promised and exactly what we are looking for."

The Promotion Company-Family Events will add 15 new productions at venues across the Midwest for the 2009-2010 season. The new shows are the Monster Nationals series of family-oriented monster truck shows acquired in 2009 from Image Promotions, Inc. of Chardon, OH.  This series of indoor shows will fill the Family Events winter calendar, fulfilling a long-sought goal for the company. Growing the business in a recession year demonstrated the confidence of Family Events in their ability to continue to find success.

C. Bruce Hubley, owner of The Promotion Company-Family Events said: "I have always believed that affordable family entertainment events built around the irresistible draw of automotive power and performance work well even in down economies.  This year we've put that to the test and come out in better shape than even I had foreseen.  I also believe that great opportunities for growth only come along once in a while, and you have to seize the moment when they do.  When Image Promotions became available, the acquisition made perfect sense for us and will, I believe, help us achieve our aggressive growth goals for the coming year.  And don't be surprised if we acquire additional events in 2010."

Mike Moore, president of Family Events said: "I am very proud of our team and the results we were able to achieve in 2009.  In the main, we topped our previous years' performance, and we are poised to up the ante again in 2010.  This fall, we hope to add a couple more people to our staff to help execute those plans.  We will bring the Monster Nationals series of shows to the indoor winter venues and we are projecting good growth and improved results for the returning outdoor shows in our Performance Series.  Also, we are hoping to announce soon a new Tri-State 4-Wheel Jamboree coming to Rochester, MN.  We are very positive about our future and the energy and excitement level here is at an all-time high."
