Autofest to highlight cars as well as Spider-Man

Spider-Man^™ Highlights The O’Reilly Auto Parts Autofest Returning to Springfield for 11^th Edition.

Everything automotive, from street rods to muscle cars, 4x4’s to motorcycles will be on display joining great activities for kids at the Ozark Empire E*Plex on February 7-8, 2009.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts Autofest presents an opportunity for  fans of powerful, high-performance, and custom-designed street rods, muscle cars, 4x4’s, motorcycles and more to see a huge display of some of the most unique and famous vehicles in America. For the 11^th year, the O’Reilly Auto Parts Autofest will return to Springfield, Missouri at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds E*Plex on Saturday, February 7, 2009 from 10:00am to 7:00pm and Sunday, February 8, 2009 from 10:00am to 5:00pm.

This year, the O’Reilly Auto Parts Autofest will have a special emphasis on activities that kids will love.  Spider-Man of Marvel Comics and movie fame will make a special live appearance on Saturday, February 7.  Spider-Man will be signing autographs and entertaining kids from 11:00am to 2:00pm and 3:00pm to 6:00pm on Saturday only.  Kids will also be able to build and take home a model ’34 Ford Street Rod in the “Make It-Take It” Kids Car Model Building Zone throughout the weekend while supplies last.

A Wii Game Prize Pack is the award for the winner of the Rocking Wii Bowling Challenge in the Game Zone at Autofest.  Radio station KZRQ (Z106.7FM) will sponsor the Rocking Wii single-elimination bowling tournament. Participants will sign up and then be paired by ages in brackets to ensure fair play.  The person with the best score will move on to the next round and face the next competition until there is a single winner.

A vehicle that is known as the “World’s Most Famous Chevelle” called “Red Alert” will be in the spotlight in the display area in the E*Plex.  This car, which started life as one of the most powerful straight-from-the-factory cars ever ordered from a local Chevy dealer became a legendary winner in tire-smoking, wheel-standing NHRA drag racing.  “Red Alert” is just one of dozens of cars that are the true stars of The O’Reilly Auto Parts Autofest.  Gearheads from throughout the Ozark Empire look forward to a break from the bleak days of winter by strolling through the colorful indoor cavalcade of cars, trucks, and motorcycles at Autofest; the primary reason why the event has returned for 11 straight years.

All through the O’Reilly Auto Parts Autofest, attendees can give their feet a rest and take in a classic car movie over in the “Area57 Drive In Movie Theatre” at the E*Plex.

New for 2009 is a special award for the car owner who best embodies the spirit of the Autofest.  The trophy for “Car Owner of the Year” will be presented on Sunday afternoon.
